Honorary ( Life) Membership Award
An Honorary (Life) Membership is the highest honour that can be given to a member of the Elora Curling Club and is not given out freely.
Each year the Elora Curling Club can award to one member, special recognition for that member’s continual and longstanding contributions of their time to the growth and enjoyment of the Elora Curling Club.
In order for a member to be recommended for an Honorary Life member, their contribution to the club must have been significant, visible and of benefit to all, or the majority of the club members.
The letter of consideration to nominate a person for an Honorary (Life) Membership should include , but are not limited, to the following:
- The member shall have been a member in good standing of the Elora Curling Club for a period totalling a minimum of at least 20 years.
- Have served on the Board of Directors for at least two (2) full terms.
- Performed a substantial form of service or contribution to the ECC for a minimum of 8 - 10 years.
Examples of this service could be any of the following, but not limited to these:
Serve as a member /chair of a club committee.
Convenor of club league(s) and or club sponsored bonspiel(s) for a continual period of time.
Co-ordinate /assist with fund raising activities / special events at the club.
Assist with the co-ordination of instructional sessions for the promotion of new or junior curlers for the betterment of the club.
4. Be recognized as a promoter of the Elora Curling Club’s image within or outside the club, either through their on ice performance or other avenues.
Any member to be considered for this award must be recommended to the Board of Directors by at least three (3) dues paying members and must meet all of the above requirements.
The nomination process must include:
- - - Historical information of the nominee’s volunteerism
- - - The nomination must be approved by a majority of the entire Board of Directors
An Honorary ( Life) member shall enjoy all the privileges of membership in the club without any payment of fees for curling from the time of designation, for life.
The Honorary (Life) Membership should be announced at the Annual General Meeting.
